RNC Replaces NBC With CNN for February Debate

On the heels of a successful Democratic presidential debate Sunday, NBC News has been officially replaced as host for a Republican debate set for next month. “The Republican National Committee has decided to move forward without NBC’s participation,” writes RNC chairman Reince Priebus in a statement today, awarding the debate to CNN.

The debate, set for February 25 in Houston, will keep its partnerships with Telemundo, National Review and Salem Communications.

Relations between the RNC and NBC frayed after a CNBC debate in October, which Priebus said “was extremely disappointing and did a disservice to (NBC), our candidates, and voters.”

Two days later, the RNC announced it would withdraw. At the time, NBC expressed confidence the RNC’s concerns would be addressed. “We will work in good faith to resolve this matter with the Republican Party.”
