Rick Warren Absent From This Week, Huckabee

Pastor Rick Warren was supposed to appear on ABC’s This Week and FNC’s “Huckabee” this weekend, in interviews set to tape Saturday afternoon. But he pulled out of both due to “fatigue and exhaustion.”

This Week producers held out hope he may appear live at 9amET Sunday, but were told he was too sick to come on. A segment on the pirates hostage situation replaced the interview. In comments emailed to Politico, a Warren spokesperson says the Pastor “was able to preach several of the six services at which he was scheduled to preach” yesterday.

Warren made news during his interview with Larry King on Tuesday, in which he said he he never campaigned for Proposition 8 and that he sent a letter of apology to gay leaders.

This interview was referenced when Mike Huckabee addressed Warren’s absence. “I was going to ask him about clarification on the comments that he made on Larry King that have created a firestorm,” said Huckabee. “Unfortunately, just minutes before the show his office informed us that he’s ill and had to cancel his appearance.”

A spokesperson denied the interview was a reason: “There has been a lot of blog chatter trying to connect the dots with the interviews this weekend and comments Dr. Warren made on CNN Larry King Live, but his cancellations were related to health and fatigue.”
