The Ultimate Fighting Championship is coming to broadcast TV as part of a new deal with Fox.

John Ourand at Sports Business Journal broke the news about the multiyear deal, which is expected to be formally announced this week. Fox will broadcast up to four UFC events per year starting in 2012.

In addition, UFC’s cable content (The Ultimate Fighter, Fight Night) will move to FX starting in January. Ourand reported that bidding had gone as high as $90 million per year.

Moving to broadcast TV is a huge step for a sport that’s getting bigger by the minute. And between the addition of college football and UFC, FX is poised to be a target destination for the male demographic starting this fall.
