Donald Trump Fires Campaign Manager Corey Lewandowski

By Mark Joyella

Donald Trump has fired his campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, according to The New York Times’ Maggie Haberman, who reported the story first, followed by various networks, including ABC News:

Bloomberg’s Sahil Kapur notes that “dropping Lewandowski is the clearest sign Trump knows he’s sinking. Stood by him through battery charges and turf wars with Manafort.”

Lewandowski survived the cable news feeding frenzy that followed an incident in March, when then-Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields said she was “roughed up” by Lewandowski after a campaign rally.

An arrest report against Lewandowski was filed, but Trump stood by him in television interviews, including at a town hall event moderated by CNN’s Anderson Cooper. Trump told Cooper “it would be so easy for me to terminate this man, ruin his life, ruin his family… and say you are fired. I have fired many people, especially on ‘The Apprentice,’…The problem is everybody dumps people when there is a sign of political incorrectness.”
