Politico’s Mike Allen reports Chuck Todd, host of NBC’s Meet the Press, will host an hourlong weekday politics show on MSNBC.
“Going into an election year, it makes perfect sense for MSNBC that Chuck Todd would have an hour … to really go deep on politics,” Allen quotes a source familiar with the network’s plan.
It’s believed the addition of Todd’s show will be part of a larger schedule shake-up at MSNBC, which has struggled to reverse ratings declines. Adding politics–but not opinion–would fit with recent changes at the network, which dropped two opinion shows and replaced them with a block of hard news anchored by Thomas Roberts.
MSNBC is also preparing to bring exiled anchor Brian Williams into the mix as a breaking news anchor.
