Report: CBS News Has Fired Staffer Believed to Have Had Access to the Leaked Amy Robach Tape

The ABC News-Amy Robach saga has taken a wild turn, with another network now involved.

Media writer Yashar Ali first reported yesterday (which TVNewser later confirmed) that ABC News warned CBS News that one of its former staffers who later moved to CBS News may have been the person to leak the July 2019 tape of 20/20 anchor Amy Robach expressing her frustration on a hot mic to an ABC producer about the network’s decision not to air her 2015 Jeffrey Epstein story. Robach was particularly annoyed about the network’s decision not to air her interview with Epstein’s “sex slave” Virginia Roberts Giuffre.

“I’ve had this interview with Virginia [Roberts],” Robach is seen telling a producer, off-air. “We would not put it on the air. I was told ‘Who’s Jeffrey Epstein? No one knows who that is. This is a stupid story.’”

Robach adds: “The Palace found out that we had her whole allegations about Prince Andrew and threatened us a million different ways. I had it all three years ago.”

Well, according to a report in Page Six, CBS News has gone ahead and fired the female staffer believed to have leaked the tape.

A CBS News spokesperson has not responded to a request for comment.

It’s not known whether the ABC-turned-CBS staffer went directly to Project Veritas with the tape, or if she passed it along to someone (or someones) who then leaked it to the right-wing media watchdog.

An ABC News spokesperson told TVNewser, “we take violations of company policy very seriously, and we’re pursuing all avenues to determine the source of the leak.”
