Remembering Peter: Several Minutes Of Applause During ABC’s Staff Tribute

By Brian

“A very moving tribute to Peter was just held on his World News Tonight set — TV 3 — in New York at 3pm,” an ABC staffer tells TVNewser.

David Westin remembered Peter to the many hundreds of ABC News staffers who crowded around the anchor desk and watched via satellite from London, LA and Washington. Westin told the troops that Peter left us all a legacy of great journalism, friendship and love.

“Dr. Tim Johnson, ABC News’ medical expert and resident saint, who gave so much comfort to Peter and his family during this terrible time, said a benediction followed by a very long, sad moment of silence,” the staffer continued. “Westin ended the tribute by asking the assembled to give Peter a round of applause. No one wanted to stop clapping and the applause went on and on and on for minutes…”
