Redlasso Goes Dark

By SteveK

Ah, the day started with such happiness. Then it just fell into the red.

Redlasso, a web site allowing users to make their own clips of cable and broadcast programming, has shut down, “for the immediate future.” NBC and FOX filed suit against the company this week.

In an email to the Redlasso Blogger Advisory Board (of which one of us TVNewsers is a member), Redlasso described the network’s lawsuit as “anti-Web” and “a big blow to the blogger community’s right[s].”

In a press release, the company describes its site as providing, “bloggers with online broadcast content tools that enables them to exercise their first amendment rights to comment on newsworthy events.”

On a side note, TVNewser editor Chris Ariens was on MSNBC’s Morning Joe today defending the work of bloggers after Joe Scarborough‘s recent Cheeto-laced rants. Click continued to see the clip from…oh wait, never mind.

> Update: So a tipster tells us they found the Morning Joe clip with Chris. It’s on msnbc.com and it’s after the jump…
