Rachel Nichols Landed a LeBron James Interview… Is Dwyane Wade Next?

By Brian Flood

The Golden State Warriors took a 1-0 series lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals last night. Before Game 2 tips off on Sunday night at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, CNN sports anchor Rachel Nichols will sit down with LeBron James to discuss everything from his family life in Cleveland to maintaining his body with cryotherapy and his upcoming Hollywood debut.

CNN’s All Access at the NBA Finals airs on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET and includes interviews with Cavaliers head coach David Blatt and Warriors head coach Steve Kerr. The special will also feature an in-depth look at regular season MVP Stephen Curry. Former stars Grant Hill and Steve Smith join Nichols as co-hosts to give a behind-the-scenes look at the games, personalities and the celebration that extends beyond the court.

Meanwhile, James’ old running mate Dwyane Wade is getting an early start on his broadcasting career. Wade, who has played in the previous four NBA Finals, is joining the ABC crew to provide insight during the Finals. Wade’s debut will come before Game 2, when he joins Sage Steele, Doug Collins and Jalen Rose on the NBA Countdown set at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Wade is scheduled to contribute during pre-game and halftime shows for Games 2 and 3, and again for Games 6 and 7, if necessary. He’s not retiring from his day job, but unfortunately for Miami Heat fans, he doesn’t have anything else going on at the moment.

It would be a fun moment for NBA fans if Wade lands an interview with his former teammate James at some point during the series. James famously left Wade’s Heat to re-join his hometown Cavs last summer, but the two still appear be cordial.
