Q2 #’s: MSNBC Shows 49 Percent Demo Growth In Primetime

“For the third consecutive quarter,” MSNBC “pushed past the competition to achieve more growth than any other cable news network,” the net’s press release says.

In total day, MSNBC was up 34 percent in the 25-54 demo (123,000 vs. 92,000). In primetime, MSNBC was up 49 percent in the demo, from 133,000 in Q2 2006 to 198,000 in Q2 2007.

At 7, Hardball was up 9 percent in the demo (146,000 vs. 134,000). At 8pm, Countdown was up 54 percent in the demo (241,000 vs. 156,000). And at 9pm, Scarborough Country was up 36 percent in the demo (170,000 vs. 125,000), demonstrating MSNBC’s challenge as it replaces Joe Scarborough in primetime.

Also: The 10pm to midnight doc block grew the most: “A +45% increase in total viewers (378,000 v. 261,000) and a +66% increase in the adult demo (186,000 v. 112,000).” More…
