“NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams had an impressive ratings win during the first quarter 2006, topping ABC and CBS in all categories,” the network said in a press release today.
The numbers for Q1 2006 are quite similar to Q4 2005. NBC beat ABC by a million viewers, but only has a 0.1 lead in the 25-54 demo.
But there’s one change between December and March: The CBS Evening News has picked up half a million viewers.
In Q4 2005, CBS averaged 7,469,000. In Q1 2006, CBS averaged 8,000,000, a gain of 531,000 viewers a night. In the demo, the Evening News is up from 1.9 to 2.1.
Here are the Q1 averages:
Total viewers: NBC: 9,859,000 / ABC: 8,861,000 / CBS: 8,000,000
Homes: NBC: 6.8/13 / ABC: 6.2/12 / CBS: 5.6/11
25-54 demo: NBC: 2.6 / ABC: 2.5 / CBS: 2.1
