NBC News on Tuesday announced that Priya Sridhar will be its new Atlanta-based correspondent reporting across all NBC News platforms, as well as MSNBC.
NBC News global newsgathering chief David Verdi shared the news in a note to staff, stating, “Priya comes to us from our owned television station NBC7 in San Diego, where she served as a political reporter and host of the weekly show, ‘Politically Speaking.’ Previously, she worked as a White House correspondent and morning show co-host in New York City for Arise News, as well as an investigative and general assignment reporter for KENS 5 in San Antonio, Texas.”
He added, “Priya has also reported from around the world, including from India and Nigeria, as well as from our very own London bureau as an intern.”
Some of the big stories Sridhar has covered over her career include the aftermath of the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., for the Associated Press and the historic 2015 presidential elections in Nigeria.
Sridhar started her career at WCSH in Maine and holds a master’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
She is co-president of the Asian American Journalists Association San Diego and is an officer in the United States Navy Reserve. She also serves on the board of directors for Military Veterans in Journalism.
