Pres. Trump Says Some Journalists ‘Have No Sources. They Make Them Up’

Another day, another attack on the mainstream media by President Trump. The president spent the first 15 minutes of his speech at CPAC this morning criticizing “the fake news media.”

“I called them the enemy of the people,” Pres. Trump said to the crowd of conservatives. “They are because they have no sources. They make them up when there are none. ‘Nine people have confirmed’ one report says. I said ‘Give me a break.’ They make up sources. They are very dishonest people.”

They shouldn’t be allowed to cite sources unless they use somebody’s name. Let their name be put out there. Let them say it to my face. Let there be no more sources. There are some great reporters around, who are honest. But there are some terrible dishonest reporters who do a great disservice to our people. They should put names in the stories.

Trump also wanted to make clear that he did not call all of the media the enemy, just the “fake news.”

“They took the word ‘fake’ out. That’s the way they are. I’m not against the media. I’m not against the press, and I don’t mind bad stories if I deserve them. And, I tell ya, I love good stories.”

The president wasn’t done yet. He started talking about polls, praising The Los Angeles Times poll “for getting it right.” Then moved to going after the news networks. The audience starts chanting “CNN, CNN.”

“Yes, that’s right. CNN. ‘The Clinton News Network,'” Trump said.

“You look at CBS, ABC, NBC. These polls are so bad and inaccurate. It creates a false narrative. We have to fight it. They are very smart, cunning and dishonest. It’s a sensitive topic. They get upset when we expose their false stories. They always bring up the First Amendment. No one loves it better than me. Who uses it more than I do? But it gives it to all Americans to speak freely. It gives me the right to criticize fake news strongly,” continues Trump.

“The media has an obligation to report honestly, but the ‘fake news’ doesn’t tell the truth. I say that the ‘fake news’ doesn’t represent the people, and it never will.”

Pres. Trump concluded his remarks about the news media by saying “we must do something about it.”
