Power Back Up, Ice Cream for all at CNN DC

By Chris Ariens

CNN Washington DC bureau chief Sam Feist is throwing an ice cream party for his staff this afternoon after the bureau experienced a 48 hour power outage — during the first part of which on Tuesday, “every piece of television equipment” was down.

“For two days, this bureau continued to turn out fabulous shows and fabulous reporting,” wrote Feist in an email to staff last night. “Hats off to our operations, engineering, and facilities teams for their extraordinary efforts to keep us on the air. And thanks to everyone else who was dislocated, relocated, and working in far less than perfect conditions.”

So today at 2pm, staffers are being treated to an ice cream break. “Now that we again have working refrigerators and freezers, it seems appropriate,” writes Feist.
