Piers Morgan Sees Support (Sort of) From Anti-Deportation Petitions

By Chris Ariens

Two new petitions aiming to keep Piers Morgan in the USA — a response to a petition to have him deported — have popped up on the “We the People” section of WhiteHouse.gov. One created on Christmas day says Piers Morgan should stay in the USA because, “No one in the UK wants him back.” (Not true. A woman in Solihull will gladly take him in.) Neither of the new petitions has the same momentum as the one created last Friday calling for Morgan’s deportation.

That first petition created by a Texas has now been signed by triple the number needed to reach a threshold by which the White House will respond. The “We the People” section states:

Once the petition reaches the required threshold, it will be put in a queue to be reviewed by the White House. Others can still sign the petition while it is awaiting a response from the White House. When the White House responds, everyone who has signed the petition will get email from the White House to let you know that we’ve reviewed and responded to the petition.

The 25,000 threshold was met on Monday. By 3:20pmET this afternoon, 75,000 people had signed. The White House has yet to respond.

Morgan is getting a few invitations from those happy port him, including from Twitter friends in Belgium and India.
