Phil Griffin To Oversee MSNBC As “Executive-In-Charge”

Phil Griffin, who left MSNBC last year to become a senior vice president at NBC News, will now oversee the cable network as executive-in-charge, president Steve Capus announced today.
Griffin will continue to oversee the Today Show from his office at 30 Rock.

“We are also extremely fortunate that Phil Griffin will re-assume a leadership position overseeing MSNBC,” Capus said. “Phil is an immensely talented executive and producer whose insight and drive are welcome as we focus on the future of MSNBC.”

Griffin was formerly vice president of primetime at MSNBC. He also served as executive producer of Hardball. New GM Dan Abrams will report to him…
