Peter Barnes Eats a Sandwich

Covering the G-20 has been a pretty varied experience for the newsers. Some landed big interviews. Some got hit with tear gas.

But it was a bit of a homecoming for Fox Business’ Peter Barnes. Earlier this week, Barnes, who interned at The Pittsburgh Press in 1979, told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, “The first thing I’m going to do here is take my TV producer and some of the press pool over to the Original Oyster House on Market Square for their nice big fish filet sandwich and a beer. I’ve been dreaming about that sandwich for 30 years.”

In a follow-up, Barnes talked about when he called the restaurant, “I tell the guy on the other end of the line that I’ll be over before they close because it’s been 20 years since I had a sandwich — The guy says ‘Are you Peter Barnes?’ I say, shocked, ‘why yes — how did you know?’ He says, ‘we read the article about you in the paper — we’ll be waiting for you with a camera!'”

Barnes had his photo taken mid-sandwich (above) for the restaurant’s wall. And here he is with the exuberant staff:
