PBS came out was the most hardware at the 39th Annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards, which took place last night at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P Rose Hall at the Time Warner Complex in New York.
The public broadcaster earned seven awards Monday evening (out of 45 nominations), edging CBS and HBO, the latter of which had a big night thanks to Vice News Tonight on HBO earning four awards for its critically-acclaimed special Charlottesville: Race & Terror.

CBS’ 60 Minutes won a trio of Emmys, and Norah O’Donnell won one for Outstanding Investigative Report in a Newscast for her work on the U.S. Air Force Academy Sexual Assault story on CBS This Morning.
CNN Worldwide won six Documentary Emmys, three for CNN U.S. and three for CNN International. Four of the six focused on international reporting from CNN journalists including Nick Paton Walsh, Arwa Damon, Clarissa Ward as well as Dr. Sanjay Gupta.

Among the award presenters were CNN At This Hour anchor Kate Bolduan and CNN Newsroom weekend anchor Ana Cabrera, the two of whom made the trek from next door to participate in the ceremony.
Univision took home three awards.
Noticias Telemundo earned a win in the category of Outstanding Investigative Journalism in Spanish for Los Nadien, a two-part report offering an inside look at the dangerous expedition of migrants attempting to reach U.S. soil and sheds light onto the experience of children born during the journey.
NBC News had a nice night in its own right. Dateline scored an Emmy, and NBC News Digital took home its first, winning in the Outstanding Feature Story in a Newsmagazine category.

We feel honored to have been able to tell Joey’s untold story of the caretakers and loved ones affected by Dementia,” added Mariana Keller, senior video producer for NBC News Digital. “I’m so glad to work for a news organization that believes in the power of in-depth, digital-native documentary work to bring important issues to light in meaningful ways.”
MSNBC won one for All In with Chris Hayes, Outstanding News Discussion and Analysis for his All In America: Chicago special.
ABC 20/20 won one for Las Vegas: Heartbreak and Heroes (Outstanding Coverage of a Breaking News Story in a Newsmagazine).
