“Our Man In Space” Leaves CBS

By Brian

A few CBS News veteran producers were let go last month. One of those producers was Mark K. Kramer, who has worked in various roles for CBS News since 1966 — and quite notably on its TV space coverage since Apollo 7 in 1968.

CBS confirms that Kramer left the network in November. He was most recently a senior operations producer for the CBS News Special Events Unit (TV). According to a tipster, he “often worked on coordinating multi-network pools for such events as national political conventions, U.S. presidential inaugurations, U.S. presidential trips abroad, etc.”

The tipster says Kramer received a special “Our Man in Space” card from colleagues, made by the CBS News graphics arts unit, before his departure. He may become a part-time freelance producer for CBS News space coverage…
