Fox News’s 7 p.m. timeslot is not just getting a new host, it’s getting a new title: Tucker Carlson Tonight takes over for On the Record which had been a part of the lineup for more than 14 years.
Fox News says Carlson’s show will feature “powerful analysis and spirited debates with guests from across the political and cultural spectrum.”
This is a return to nightly TV for Carlson who spent 5 years as co-host of Crossfire on CNN, before joining MSNBC in the mid-2000s where he anchored two evening programs.
Carlson’s new show ends On the Record which had been on Fox News’s schedule since February, 2002. This past February, Greta Van Susteren talked with us about hosting 3,500 episodes of the show which ranked No. 1 in its timeslot its entire run. In early September, she abruptly resigned from Fox in the aftermath of Gretchen Carlson‘s lawsuit against Roger Ailes, which led to his departure from the network in July.
