Olivia Munn Returning to The Newsroom… Well, a Different Newsroom

By Brian Flood

Olivia Munn clearly likes playing newsers on TV.

The girlfriend of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers famously played Sloan Sabbith on HBO’s The Newsroom and spent time as a correspondent on The Daily Show. Munn is now teaming with the CW to develop an untitled show about a 1970s female sports reporter, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

We’re not sure if Munn is returning to the anchor chair or simply helping create the show, but the main character seems right up her alley. It revolves around a young reporter who gets hired as a publicity stunt to be one of the first female on-air sports reporters. The show will touch on many topics of the 1970s, such as gender politics and women being banned from the press box. The project will be written by The Good Wife’s Ted Humphrey.
