NYT Asks “Political Liability,” MSNBC-NBC, Question

By SteveK

The New York Times’ Brian Stelter uses The White House’s letter to NBC News as a jumping off point, writing today, “More and more, NBC shares staff, office space and an identity with MSNBC, exposing the news division to complaints about opinionated cable hosts like Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews.”

Other issues are raised as well. Hillary Clinton‘s campaign has, “privately expressed a different grievance: namely, that MSNBC hosts show favoritism toward Barack Obama,” writes Stelter. A recent Clinton Oregon ad shows Matthews, Olbermann and Tim Russert (as well as ABC’s George Stephanopoulos) as the voiceover says, “In Washington, they talk about who’s up and who’s down.”

Related: Fox & Friends anchor Steve Doocy says, “I am mad at Keith Olbermann,” over Olbermann naming Doocy’s college-age son, Peter Doocy, the “World’s Worst Person,” last month. Johnny Dollar has the video. “That is a guy who picks on people’s children,” he said, as well as bringing up the fact that Olbermann is anchoring campaign coverage tonight.
