‘No One Said It Was Going to Be On Russian TV’

Donald Trump talked to Larry King Thursday night in an interview that aired on RT, the Russian government-backed channel that The Wall Street Journal has described as “a propaganda tool” of the Kremlin.

On Friday morning, CNN New Day co-host Chris Cuomo asked Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway “what is the virtue of criticizing the United States to a Russian audience?” Conway said the campaign thought Trump was doing a podcast, not an interview with Russia Today.

“As you know, former CNN superstar Larry King has a podcast, and Mr. Trump went on the podcast and no-one said it was going to be on Russian TV.”

Back in 2014, then RT anchor Liz Wahl quit her job on air over the network’s political interference with content, saying “I cannot be part of a network funded by the Russian government that white-washes the actions of Putin…I’m proud to be an American, and believe in disseminating the truth and that is why after this newscast, I’m resigning.”
