Nightly & Today Senior Producers Among the Cuts

By Chris Ariens

Updating a story first reported last week…TVNewser has learned of at least seven staff reductions at NBC News and MSNBC including a longtime producer for Brian Williams and the senior producer of the 10am hour of the Today show. At MSNBC, editorial director Davidson Goldin is out. Goldin was brought in in the summer of 2006 to prop up dayside programming. We also hear two producers from the Today show are among the cuts as well as Amy Rosenblum who was the senior producer of the 10amET hour.

NBC News producer and former Rome Bureau chief Joe Alicastro, who’d been part of the NBC News specials unit will be departing as well. Alicastro has been with NBC for 29 years. We know of two staffers from Nightly News who will be leaving, including senior producer Jean Harper, who has worked with Williams since their days at WCBS-TV. Harper leaves after a successful, award-winning career which included working alongside and on the road with Williams at both MSNBC and NBC News.

>More: Insiders tell us in Jean Harper’s case, Harper is leaving “100% on her own accord” by taking a voluntary buyout.

>More from an emailer: “Alicastro and Harper were among the nicest, hardest-working and dedicated producers I met while working at NBC.”
