Nightline’s Rough Night

By Chris Ariens

First on TVNewser: As she was returning from covering the debate in Philadelphia yesterday, Nightline anchor Cynthia McFadden fell down some stairs at New York’s Penn Station. ABC News spokesperson Jeffrey Schneider tells us McFadden, “hurt her foot badly enough that she is now using a cane to walk.” So Martin Bashir was called in to anchor last night’s show.

But around 8:30pmET, Bashir was sitting on the World News anchor desk when he stood up and cut his head on something on the set. He was rushed to the ER where he had to get stitches.

At 10:15, an hour and 15 minutes before the live show, Terry Moran arrived to anchor. Schneider tells us McFadden is feeling better and will be anchoring tonight and that Bashir is recovering.

Good thing Nightline went to that three-anchor format.
