Nightline’s DC Office Gets Thinner

B&C’s John Eggerton reports that two of the three remaining “Nightline” producer positions in ABC’s Washington DC bureau are moving to New York. With the move, only Terry Moran, John Donvan and producer Mary Marsh will remain in DC for the show.

“With our show being live five nights a week and the incredible success of Primetime Nightline it has become clear that having all hands on deck in New York gives us greater ability cover breaking news and update our show for the west coast as news develops on our watch,” said ABC spokeswoman Heather Riley. The Network has so far aired 13 Primetime Nightline specials in 2011.

The move continues ABC’s slow shift of “Nightline” from its original home in DC to its New York City headquarters. The biggest move happened in 2008, when ABC transferred a dozen jobs from DC to the Big Apple.
