‘Nightline’ Starts New Year at No. 1

By Chris Ariens

ABC’s “Nightline” was the most watched show in late night for the week of January 5. In fact, the late night ABC News show has been No. 1 in total viewers for 11 of the last 13 weeks.

While “Nightline” leads among total viewers, NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” comes in first among the younger demos. Late last year, the 3-anchor format got a new host as Byron Pitts replaced Dan Abrams on the show.

ABC’s ratings are based on a 25-minute broadcast, while CBS and NBC are based on approximately 50 minutes (prior to the final national commercial break of each program).
