ABC’s Nightline continues to close the gap with its late night rivals. Year-to-year, Nightline was up in Total Viewers and the demo, compared to the Late Show with David Letterman and the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, each seeing double-digit declines. Leno was still first in Total Viewers (4.9M) and the A25-54 demo (2.1M), with Letterman coming in second (3.52M / 1.6M) but ABC says season to date, Nightline has closed the total viewing gap with Letterman by 54% and with Leno by 37%.
Tuesday and Thursday are not counted in the Nightline average, but aired late due to the late-running NBA finals.
