“News Innovator” Mark Lukasiewicz Named NBC News VP of Digital Media

Mark Lukasiewicz, who was named a VP of NBC News last year, is shedding his duties as executive producer of NBC News Specials to focus on digital platform programming.

As the new vice president of digital media, Lukasiewicz is responsible “for all of NBC News’ digital platform programming, supervising the NBC News relationship with its internet joint venture, MSNBC.com, NBC News content on NBC Mobile, NBC News Radio and other initiatives and partnerships in digital media,” the press release says.

In recent months, Lukasiewicz has been heading up the NBC News Digital Task Force. Phil Alongi is taking his place as EP of Specials.

NBC News prez Steve Capus said in the release: “These are important announcements for a couple of reasons. Mark is a news innovator — highly qualified to capitalize on the momentum that we’ve already created in digital media, and to strengthen our leadership position at a critical time in a critical area of the business. Phil has had a key role in all of our specials coverage for almost two decades, and is highly deserving of this promotion – he is unparalleled in his expertise and we are fortunate to have him in this position.”
