News Corp Announces “My Network TV;” Fox News To Produce Crime Show

“News Corp. Wednesday unveiled My Network TV, a new localized programming service for its stations being orphaned by the shutdown of UPN and others who might want to opt out of the new CW. It will launch Sept. 5,” Broadcasting & Cable reports.

At a press conference this morning, “Chernin compared starting the new service to the launch of Fox News Channel against CNN, when nobody liked Fox’s odds.”

One of the shows in development is “On Scene,” a Fox News-produced magazine. Here’s how the press release describes it: “This crime investigative series will cover all angles, examine all of the evidence and trace every single clue of the most compelling crimes committed today.”

> Update: MyNetworkTV will be overseen by Fox television stations chairman Roger Ailes. “While the network will initially launch on those 10 Fox-owned stations, it will seek affiliations with more stations,” Reuters says.
