> To the NYT: “This has been a very difficult year for CBS News, for Andrew, for other people in CBS News. I think it was a mutual decision. Andrew’s been head of CBS News for a long time, longer than anyone else in many years. It was just time.”

> To the LAT: “We’ve been looking to change and how to make that work. It just felt like the timing was right for both of us.” Moonves said he started discussing it around Labor Day.
