New Anchor, New Term for MoveOn

By SteveK

Campbell Brown‘s first documentary for CNN, “Campaign Killers: Why Do Negative Ads Work?” premiered Wednesday night after the GOP debate, and is already drawing criticism. Media Matters picked up on Brown’s categorization of the group MoveOn.org as “American insurgents” in her description of their ad against Gen. David Patraeus.

Brown said, “General David Patraeus made his reputation taking on insurgents in Iraq. But when he came to Capitol Hill in September, he was confronted by American insurgents: a liberal anti-war group called MoveOn.org.” That’s a new one.

>Reaction: CNN’s Campbell Brown tells TVNewser she is “glad that this documentary is generating discussion among those that it portrayed — ‘the passionate partisans on the left and right.'” Brown says she and her team “presented a balanced and entertaining look at how various groups of all political persuasions try to influence the process. I am both thrilled with the documentary and the fact that more than million people tuned in.”
