FBN’s Neil Cavuto and Maria Bartiromo talk with Politico about tomorrow night’s GOP debate. The veteran business journalists will moderate the 4th GOP debate of the 2016 cycle among the top 8 candidates. Trish Regan and Sandra Smith will moderate the earlier debate among the lower-polling candidates. It’s the first time the 8-year-old network has hosted a presidential primary debate.
“I don’t think you can be prepared for a comment that may come from one of the candidates that you weren’t expecting,” said Bartiromo. “You can’t prepare for a live situation in that regards. What you can prepare for is insuring you know the issues, that you’ve got the right questions and you’ve got the right follow up.”
“We’re business journalists. We’re nerds, we should embrace who we are, we want to stick to these subjects,” says Cavuto, adding what he and Bartiromo won’t do: “Don’t trivialize this, don’t ‘gotcha’ this, don’t make this into something it’s not. It’s a debate on economic issues, it’s not ‘Access Hollywood.’ “
