NBCUniversal, Partners Looking to Sell The Weather Channel

Bloomberg reports the owners of the Weather Channel have hired Morgan Stanley and a second investment bank, PJT Partners, to explore a sale.

The company, acquired in 2008 by Blackstone Group, Bain Capital and NBCUniversal, could be split–with only digital properties offered for sale. Those properties, Bloomberg reports, have “a much higher value than the cable network.”

In July, it was reported that Comcast, owner of NBCUniversal, had made a quarterly regulatory filing, reducing the valuing of its stake in the Weather Channel to $86 million–-down from $336 million at the end of 2014.
