NBC’s “White House” Part II Draws 9 Million Viewers

Part II of NBC’s “Inside the Obama White House” drew about 150,000 fewer viewers than part I. But the Brian Williams-reported special drew the biggest Total Viewer audience at 9pm for the network since last October. The show brought in just shy of 9 million Total Viewers (8.965m) and grew 14% from the first half hour to the second.

The entire two-hour special will be rebroadcast, with some added material, tomorrow night at 8pmET/PT.

The special did have its critics (in addition to John Ziegler).

Verne Gay of Newsday noticed the mentions of other NBC shows, like Saturday Night Live, and frequent appearances by NBC White House correspondent, Chuck Todd. “These little in-show NBC plugs do, I think, push the ol’ envelope,” writes Gay.

Time Magazine’s James Poniewozik thought the Tonight Show tie-in was “Kinda creepy. But kinda funny. But, yeah, kinda creepy.” “Apparently we’re all cool with this now? Am I just becoming one of those cranky old journalists? Should I pull the flask of scotch out of my desk drawer and start reminiscing about the good old days?”
