NBC Now Will Air Freedom’s Watch Ad

By SteveK

NBC changed course, and apparently their ad standard guidelines as a whole, and has decided to air the Freedom’s Watch ad that thanks the troops.

NBC said in a statement that they changed their guidelines and decided their policy will only apply to content and not referenced Web sites. NBC previously cited the fact that Freedom’s Watch would not remove mention of their web site as a reason for rejecting the ad. What may have grabbed NBC’s attention was the strongly worded welcome page with calls to “do battle with the radical special interests groups and their left-wing allies in government.”

NBC’s initial refusal to air the ad, which was approved by Fox News and CNN, drew criticism from Newt Gingrich, who appeared on Fox News on Friday and called for a boycott of NBC.

Earlier this week, Fox News decided against running an ad by the Center for Constitutional Rights.
