NBC Nightly News Promotes Meghan Rafferty to Senior Broadcast Producer

By A.J. Katz

Here’s a bit of positive revolving door news: NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt has promoted Meghan Rafferty to senior broadcast producer.

Rafferty was the No. 2 on Weekend Nightly when she joined NBC News in September 2017. Prior to her arrival at NBC, Rafferty spent a decade at CNN, producing a number of Wolf Blitzer‘s interviews for The Situation Room. She also spent some time as Christiane Amanpour‘s producer during her tenure at CNN.

Nightly News executive producer ep Jenn Suozzo, who previously held Rafferty’s role on the newscast, sent the below note to staff earlier this morning:

I’m pleased to announce that Meghan Rafferty has been promoted to Senior Broadcast Producer.

Since Meghan joined the Nightly rim in March 2018, she has been a strong leader in the newsroom. Meghan’s editorial judgment, control room skills, and experience have been a huge asset to the team and I know she will continue to exhibit the same passion in this new role. Meghan is a key team player who balances the day-to-day assignments with long-term projects and investigations. Her enthusiasm for all stories – from politics to consumer – is undeniable.

I am excited to work alongside her every day and look forward to the future, as Nightly commits to covering stories of impact every night, including our new “Justice For All” and “Your Money Your Life” series –  with even more to come! Meghan will be instrumental as we expand beyond our broadcast each evening, as we’ve done recently with Nightly Films and our revamped “The Nightly” newsletter.

As you know, before joining the rim, Meghan was the number two on Weekend Nightly when she joined NBC News in September 2017.

Prior to joining the NBC team, Meghan was with CNN for 10 years where she produced many of Wolf Blitzer’s interviews, in the studio and in the field, during her time with “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer”. She also worked as Christiane Amanpour’s producer and was a line and package producer while at CNN.

Please join me in congratulating Meghan on her new role at Nightly!

Jenn
