NBC News’ Washington Bureau Promotes 3 Staffers in Engineering, Tech Ops Teams

NBC News has promoted three Washington bureau staffers in its engineering and technical operations teams.

The moves come one month after the network’s Washington-based senior director of news engineering and technical operations, Larry Gaetano,was fired after the network performed an investigation into his workplace behavior.

Jay Hurt becomes the vp of engineering and operations. Hurt has been with NBC News for decades, spending the past 21 years managing both the editorial and technical staff. He will now oversee all technical operations for Network News, MSNBC, Newschannel, and will report directly to NBC News evp and gm of news field and production operations Stacy Brady.

Susan Vitorovich becomes director of technical operations. Vitorovich is a 25-year veteran of NBC, spending the last 18+ years in the D.C. bureau, managing much of the operations group as well as tech managing both NBC and MSNBC shows. According to Brady, Vitorovich’s responsibilities will include “edit, ingest,  field operations, MTC, equipment services, maintenance as well as technical and production management.”

Andrew Godsick becomes director of technical operations, Newschannel. Godsick will oversee technical ops and engineering of Newschannel in Charlotte, N.C. He joined Newschannel in 2003. Additionally, he will be the liaison for Newschannel operations in D.C., and continue to be the lead on all EHS and facility issues in D.C., as well as IT.

 I would like to share some exciting news from our offices in DC!

Jay Hurt has been promoted to VP, Engineering and Operations.
Jay started in television at our NBC affiliate WOWL-TV in Florence, Alabama, the town in which he was born. After various jobs in many different positions, he joined NBC Newschannel as a producer in 1991. He has been there for the last 21 years managing both the editorial and technical staff. In his new role Jay will be responsible for all technical operations for Network News, MSNBC and Newschannel. Jay will report directly to me. Jay resides in Annapolis Maryland with his wife and three children.

Susan Vitorovich has been promoted to Director of Technical Operations.
Susan began her career in 30 Rock in a GE training progream. Following that she held roles in network distribution, news and sports. In 1999, she transferred down to the Washington DC bureau and has managed much of the operations group as well as tech managing both network and MS shows. She is a 25-year veteran of NBC. In her new role Susan will be the liaison for Network and MSNBC operations. Her responsibilities will includes edit, ingest, field operations, MTC, equipment services, maintenance as well as technical and production management. Susan will report directly to Jay Hurt. She is married and has two sons.

Andrew Godsick has been promoted to Director of Technical Operations Newschannel.
Andrew will oversee the technical operations and engineering of Newschannel in Charlotte. He will also be the liaison for Newschannel operations at 400 North Capital in DC. Andrew will continue in his role as lead on all EHS and facility issues at 400N cap as well as IT. Andrew is originally from Spring Valley, N.Y., attended the University of Michigan, and took his first job there as Director of IT. He joined Nerwschannel in 2003 in DC. He will report directly to Jay Hurt Andrew resides in Rockville Maryland and has two children
