Natalie Morales Named CBS News Correspondent

By A.J. Katz

Natalie Morales is returning to her TV news roots. She has been named a correspondent for CBS News, including 48 Hours, beginning Nov. 1.

“Natalie is one of the best in the business and a welcome addition to CBS News,” said CBS News and Stations president and co-head Neeraj Khemlani. “She has excelled at the highest levels – from network morning shows to longform storytelling – and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have her on our team. She will be doing stories for 48 Hours, CBS Mornings, CBS Sunday Morning and others. She knows how to get to the heart of a tough story with compassion and grace.”

Morales jumped from NBC News to CBS last fall, joining the network as a co-host on The Talk. She will remain a co-host on the CBS daytime chat show while taking on duties for the news division.

“It’s a privilege to contribute to the CBS News programs and I’m hoping to tell the stories that matter and to talk about issues many of us face,” said Morales. “48 Hours pioneered true crime television and I’m looking forward to working with the great team of producers and correspondents to bring the best stories to CBS viewers on Saturday nights.”

48 Hours ep Judy Tygard added, “Natalie is a high-profile reporter with a familiar voice that viewers trust. She’s also known for her exclusive, unsparing interviews of notorious criminals including Clark Rockefeller and Drew Peterson. We’ve watched her work for years and we’re excited to have her reporting for us.”

Morales spent 22 years at NBC before joining CBS in 2021, starting out at WVIT, the network’s Hartford affiliate, before joining MSNBC in 2002 as a correspondent. She moved to the national network and Today four years later as a national correspondent, and was named co-anchor of Today’s third hour in March 2008. In May 2011, it was announced that Morales would replace Ann Curry as news anchor for Today when Curry succeeded Meredith Vieira as co-host of Today in June 2011.

In May 2016, Morales moved to Los Angeles to host Access Hollywood, swapping roles with Billy Bush, and she was also named Today’s West Coast anchor. In 2019, Morales left Access Hollywood and has maintained her spot on Today. She was named Dateline correspondent last October.
