MSNBC’s ‘Now’ and FNC’s ‘On the Record’ Ratings

A couple of highlights from cable news ratings yesterday.

• At NoonET MSNBC debuted “Now with Alex Wagner.” With 325,000 Total Viewers and 72,000 A25-54 viewers the show came in third in the timeslot behind FNC (1.03M/240K) and CNN (416K/115K). “Now” grew in Total Viewers but shed some younger viewers from its lead-in, MSNBC Live at 11am. And compared to the NoonET hour last week, the new program is right on par with the old, which averaged 325K Total Viewers and 80K A25-54 viewers.

• At 10pmET Greta Van Susteren’s highly-promoted interview with Mrs. Herman Cain got modest ratings for Fox News with 1.67M Total Viewers and 409,000 A25-54 viewers, making it the 5th most-watched show of FNC’s evening programs (6-11pmET). The show easily won its time period (it always does) but lost -32% of viewers from lead-in “Hannity.” “On the Record” had stiff news competition from the Gabby Giffords interview on ABC and the Jerry Sandusky interview on NBC.
