MSNBC Sets ‘Target Date’ for Brian Williams’ Return

By Mark Joyella

MSNBC has set a “tentative target date” for the return of Brian Williams: the September visit of Pope Francis to the United States, according to a report by the Associated Press.

Citing an unnamed MSNBC executive, the AP’s David Bauder reports part of the reasoning behind the late debut–Williams’ six-month suspension from NBC News ends next week–is to avoid the upcoming tenth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Some of Williams’ reporting from New Orleans during Katrina has been called into question.

Bauder reports Williams will not have a regular time slot at MSNBC, but work “daytime hours on busy news days.”
