MSNBC Rolls Out New On-Air Look

By Chris Ariens

MSNBCNew8.15As of 7:30 a.m. ET this morning, MSNBC got on a new on-air look. Gone is the upper screen bar which included a show’s name, the live bug, the time and a lower case MSNBC logo (as seen on Hardball, below, Friday.) The new look (above) is much cleaner with the MSNBC logo, now in all caps, and live bug in the lower right of the screen.

A network insider explained the new look is part of the network’s strategy to sharpen the focus on newsgathering and breaking news. Also, it was simply time for a change. The old look and lower case msnbc logo, once described as “less imposing, more legible, and just plain friendlier than the all-caps imperialist approach,” has been in use since June 2009.
