MSNBC Reprimands Employee Who Mistook Obama for Osama

By Chris Ariens

The AP’s David Bauder reports NBC News reprimanded the employee responsible “for mistakenly flashing a picture of Osama bin Laden on MSNBC as Chris Matthews talked about Barack Obama.”

TVNewser first reported the story last night, not long after the mistake happened. MSNBC spokesman Jeremy Gaines tells Bauder, “This mistake was inexcusable.” Someone in the network’s graphics department, whom MSNBC would not identify, was responsible for the error. The nature of the reprimand is not known.

Bauder reports the Obama campaign immediately called NBC to complain, and Matthews apologized on the air a few minutes later.
