MSNBC.com’s Video Success

By SteveK

MSNBC.com saw an all-time site record of on-demand video streams in March 2008, with 125.7 million video streams played. The figures include all MSNBC content, as well as the video-driven sites for The Nightly News and the Today show.

MSNBC.com is the first major network news site to offer embeddable video to consumers to post on their blogs and web sites (Foxnews.com now has embeddable video as well).

MSNBC.com also set several other video records the month before, as it had the most video streams of any cable news network’s web site in February 2008, according to Nielsen’s Video Census report. It also ranked first in time spent viewing videos. The site’s 7 million unique video users put it 31 percent ahead of CNN.com.
