MSNBC.com’s Savvy Web Staff

“Why is MSNBC.com doing so well if its parent perennially trails other TV news channels?,” the New York Times asks.

“They have a much savvier Web news staff than their competitors have,” said Vin Crosbie, an online news consultant. MSNBC.com’s content “is not a case of ‘shovelware,’ where you simply take something from one medium and put it almost unchanged on another.” Poynter Online editor Bill Mitchell adds that “they’re using all the multimedia and reporting tools that are out there.”
