Morning Show Ratings: Week of Oct. 7

ABC and NBC split the morning show ratings race for the week of Oct. 7, 2019.

Today show, which has been in the news as of late, was the No. 1 morning news program among adults 25-54. The program has now finished No. 1 in the ad-friendly demo for 196 out of the past 198 weeks.

Good Morning America averaged the largest total audience of the broadcast morning shows last week, and widened its margin of victory year to year by +22%. The ABC morning show is also only -72,000 A25-54 viewers, a 61% improvement from this time last year, and the closest the program has been to Today in the measurement in four years.

CBS This Morning remained in third place this past week, but didn’t experience quite the severe year-over-year losses in the demo that its higher-rated competitors did.

When compared with the same week in 2018, Today show was -18% in the key A25-54 demo, despite finishing No. 1 in the category, and -10% in total viewers. GMA was -9% in total viewers, despite finishing No. 1 in the category, and -8% among adults 25-54. Finishing third, CBS This Morning was -5% in the A25-54 demo, and -8% in total viewers vs. last year.
