Morning Show Ratings: Week of Oct. 22

Here’s not something you read everyday: The Today show was No. 1 in all relevant categories last week, including among total viewers.

The NBC morning show has now won in the key A25-54 demo for 148 straight weeks, delivering its best streak in over six years, and garnered first total viewer win over GMA and largest advantage over CBS This Morning since the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Despite Today’s notable across-the-board victory for the week of Oct. 22, the program was -1 percent in total viewers and -7 percent in the key A25-54 demo vs. the comparable week in 2017.

Good Morning America dropped to second place across-the-board this past week. Is the No. 2 finish in total audience just a blip in the radar? Probably. But you never know!

Nevertheless, season to date, GMA is the No. 1 morning newscast in total viewers, leading Today by +106,000 (4.058 million vs. 3.952 million) to take the top spot at this point of the season for the 7th year in a row.

GMA was -6 percent in total viewers, and -10 percent in the key A25-54 demo vs. the comparable week last year.

CBS This Morning posted the most significant year-over-year audience drop off of the trio: -12 percent in total viewers and -12 percent in the A25-54 demo.
