By A.J. Katz

The broadcast morning shows continue to have issues in the ratings department, at least relative to 2016.

ABC’s Good Morning America once again finished No. 1 in overall audience to take the top spot at this point in the season for the 5th consecutive year. That said, GMA was -16 percent in total viewers, and -19 percent in the key A25-54 demo versus the comparable week last year (week of May 16). The 1.29 million A25-54 viewers GMA averaged last week represents fourth-lowest demo delivery since Sept 1991.

NBC’s Today finished No. 1 in the key demo for the 73rd consecutive week. That’s the program’s best streak in more than four years. On the downside, NBC’s morning show was -12 percent in total viewers and -16 percent in the news demo versus the same week in 2016.
