Morning Show Ratings: Week of March 4

By Jason Lynch

It was business as usual among the morning shows last week: Good Morning America lead the way in total viewers, while Today stayed on top in the A25-54 demo.

GMA was No. 1 in total viewers, though just barely, with a slim 17,000-viewer victory over Today: 4.273 million to 4.256 million. This is the seventh year that GMA has been on top in total viewers. The ABC broadcast was down 5 percent in total viewers vs. the comparable week in 2018, and declined 10 percent in the demo year over year.

Today kept up its own demo streak, winning among A25-54 for 167 weeks in a row. The broadcast beat out GMA among total viewers Monday and Tuesday, but relinquished the total audience crown after that. Compared to last year, Today was up 1 percent in total viewers and decreased 2 percent in the demo.

CBS This Morning seemingly benefited last week from interest in Gayle King‘s extraordinary interview with R&B singer R. Kelly. Its audience increased 7 percent from the previous week, to 3.364 million, and the A25-54 demo jumped 10 percent. But compared with last year, total audience was down 3 percent and the demo fell one percent.
