Morning Show Ratings: Week of March 19

By A.J. Katz

There was a split decision in the morning show ratings race last week.

Per Nielsen data, ABC’s Good Morning America was the most-watched morning show for the week of March 19, and unlike its competitors, also managed to post year-over-year growth in multiple categories. GMA was +1 percent in total viewers, +3 percent in the demo from the comparable week in March 2017 , and due to that growth, GMA managed to slash its A25-54 margin with Today from the same week last year by -57 percent.

NBC’s Today show was No. 1 among younger news viewers last week, and has now won the A25-54 demographic for 117 consecutive weeks, its best streak in nearly 6 years. Today is also on pace to win Q1 ’18 across the board, receiving an assist from NBC Sports major events, including the Super Bowl and the Pyeyongchang Olympics. The Q1 Nielsen ratings for the morning shows are scheduled to be released next Tuesday, April 3.
